Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s parliamentary group leader, North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam states the parliamentary group isn’t investigating any case related to the leaked nude photo, allegedly of South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain).

Aslam told Sun on Thursday that no such case had been filed with the parliamentary group.

“The PG hasn’t received any such case involving MP Hussain. Therefore, we wouldn’t investigate an issue that hasn’t been submitted to the PG, would we?” he said.

Aslam said the parliamentary group couldn’t investigate any issue, unless it was submitted to them.

The photo in question leaked over social media on Friday. It allegedly shows Andhun Hussain naked on a bed with a man and a woman.

Photos and videos, allegedly showing more high-profile individuals in compromising positions, were also released on social media over last weekend.

The first to be leaked was a video which allegedly shows Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar, a prominent lawyer and the younger brother of Parliament speaker, former president Mohamed Nasheed, having sex with a Bangladeshi man, believed to be a prostitute.

The second was the photo which allegedly shows Andhun Hussain.

The third was the video which allegedly shows Abdulla Naseer Ibrahim, former RaajjeTV reporter, performing oral sex on an unseen man - who is rumored to be Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Saleem (Salle).

In a press conference on Monday, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohamed Riyaz said the photos and videos were linked to a blackmail ring. He said that police became aware of a case involving multiple people getting blackmailed using explicit photos and videos back in March.

Riyaz said that police had identified some of the suspects involved in the blackmail ring.

“We have identified some of the people involved in these videos. We are conducting necessary investigations against them,” said Riyaz, who heads the Investigative Command.

Riyaz said the police were also investigating same-sex sexual relations in connection to the videos.

Police have asked for people who are getting blackmailed using such photos and videos to com forward and report it to the police.
