Man arrested for sexual abuse of 3 young girls

Maldives Police Service has arrested a suspect for the sexual abuse of three young girls in central Maldives.

According to the police, the suspect, identified as a 45-year-old Maldivian man, was arrested under court order on Wednesday, August 26.

He is accused of sexually abusing three young girls under the age of 18 years in an island under the jurisdiction of the South Central Police Division.

One of the victims is his own daughter, confirmed the police.

The case against him was lodged with the police on Tuesday, August 25.

The man was ordered to jail pending the outcome of his trial when presented before a court for his remand hearing.

The case is under further investigation by the police.

The South Central Police Division covers islands in Th. Atoll and L. Atoll.
