Police investigating a case involving a Nepalese man arrested on sexual violence allegations discovered a 14-year-old girl hidden inside a closet, as they raided the suspect’s residence, located in an island in central Maldives.

The 20-year-old Nepalese man is accused of luring the young girl to his residence and engaging with unlawful sexual relations with her on multiple occasions.

The incident took place back in April.

The magistrate court which heard the case released the case report last week.

The report shows the suspect was remanded in custody for 30 days.

It also shows that the police discovered the victim hidden inside a closet during a raid on his residence.

At his remand hearing, the suspect confessed to luring the young girl to his room for unlawful sexual relations on at least five separate occasions.

Court documents also show the victim herself told the police she went to the suspect’s residence on multiple occasions.

The suspect, who asked the court for time to hire legal representation, was remanding in police custody citing high flight-risk and potential threat to the safety of society.
