Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to build a passenger terminal and fire building at the H. A. Hoarafushi airport.
The agreement for the project was exchanged between Transport Minister Aishath Nahula and MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim on Thursday.
The project is valued at MVR 16,131,042.02.
Under the terms of the agreement, MTCC is required to complete work on the fire building, and the passenger terminal – which will have the capacity to handle 100 passengers – within 80 days.
The Hoarafushi airport development project itself is contracted to MTCC.
Work on the project will encompass building a 1.2 kilometer runway, an 8,635 square meter apron, a 1,718 square meter fire access road, and a fence around a 720 meter area.
MTCC competed reclamation of 842,200 cubic meters of land for the project in August 2019, and competed building a 1,120 meter revetment wall around the reclaimed area in March.
