The police say they have registered an increase in the use of fake bank transfer slips in transactions, urging the public to be alert.
In a statement on Sunday, the police said their investigation uncovered the fake bank slips are being generated using a specific application.
“We have found incidents where such fake slips were used to make payments, especially for purchases from shops and restaurants,” said the police.
The police advised the public not to finalize any transaction without confirming that the payment was transferred to the bank account.
The police urged the public to be extra cautious also when conducting online business transactions.
Those who have fallen victim to such crimes have been asked to report it to the police as soon as possible.
