Missing expat found deceased identified as 24-year-old Bangladeshi

The Police, on Thursday, identified the missing expatriate who was found deceased after a two-day search as a 24-year-old Bangladeshi male.

On Wednesday evening, the Police announced that a search was underway for an expatriate worker employed at a site in Thilafushi reported missing on Monday. On Wednesday night, the Police said the expatriate has been found deceased during the search.

The Police disclosed the identity of the expatriate on Thursday morning: Ameen Mia, a 24-year-old Bangladeshi male.

The authority detailed that investigations conducted so far suggest Ameen died on Monday, the day he was reported missing.

“Further details will be disclosed to the extent possible as the investigation progress,” the Police added.

The authority did not disclose whether Ameen’s death is treated as suspicious.
