M. Muli Council states they are unsure when electricity will be restored to the island counts over 24 hours without electricity.

An official Muli Council told Sun on Thursday that electricity at the island went out at approximately 8:15am on Wednesday, adding electricity is yet to be fully restored.

The official said that the Fenaka team based on the island is working on resolving the issue, however, they have yet to identify the exact reason behind the outage.

“Once the radiator is repaired another problem arises. Cannot directly say when electricity can be restored. Fenaka staff here have been working for 24 hours,” the official said.

Although Muli is facing an electricity outage, the official detailed electricity is currently being provided by alternating between zones for 30 minutes.

Electricity is also provided for the regional hospital at the island, the official said. Nevertheless, the hospital is not able to provide its services to the best capacity.

It was noted by the official that the generators currently in use at the island were very old and worn-out. While a 600-kilowatt generator has been transported to the island earlier, it has yet to be installed.

The official said residents of the island are in despair after spending over 24 hours without electricity.

Residents of the island are also enraged over the lengthy electricity outage.
