Sixty-percent of the airport under development at Muli in Meemu Atoll has been completed.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) undertaking the project said airport shore protection revetment works, and subgrade works for the fire road and fire pad have been completed.
The Muli airport development project is valued at MVR 221 million, and will involve reclaiming 14 hectares of land, coastal protection of a 1,812-meter area, building a 1,200-meter-long and 30-meter-wide runway, a taxiway and an apron.
MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim previously has stated that the airport will be completed before the conclusion of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s current term.
