PPM-PNC holds joint council: Discussed strengthening party

The opposition coalition consisting of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People’s National Congress (PNC) hold a joint council on Monday night.

This marks the first time former President and PPM leader Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom presided over a council meeting of the progressive coalition since being declared innocent in the money laundering case.

The Supreme Court overturned his money-laundering conviction, freeing the former president on November 30, 2021.

In the council meeting, discussions were held on strengthening the administrative functioning of the parties.

Additionally, discussions were held on the current status of the nation, and how as the opposition, they can contribute to overcoming the situation.

Moreover, they discussed ways to further expand party activities in the council meeting.
