Man arrested for theft through fraud

In an operation carried out by Hulhumale’ Police Station, they have arrested an individual who had stolen goods from a shop in Hulhuamale’ through fraud.

A Police Spokesperson said that a case had been reported to Hulhumale’ Police Station over the theft of goods worth more than MVR 100,000 using false slips on different days throughout the month January.

The Spokesperson further detailed that a 25-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested in connection to the case, during an operation carried out on last Wednesday.

It was also noted that goods worth more than MVR 80,000 from what he had stolen were recovered and seized into police custody.

When the man was brought before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing, he was remanded in police custody for 15 days.

Police said that they were investigating the case further.
