Police have urged the public against reporting crimes involving children as well as sharing personal information regarding child victims on social media.
In an interview to PSM on Saturday night, police expressed concern some people are taking to social media to report crimes involving children.
Police said the sharing such information on social media is leading to loss of evidence and witness intimidation, as is impeding investigations into such cases.

Noting that there is often little or no evidence when old crimes are reported, police urged the public to report crimes as soon as possible.
Police said that crimes involving child victims are investigated as high priorities and that some 300 frontline police officers and investigators have been trained under sensitization programs to better equip them to deal which crimes against children.
The appeal by police not to report crimes against children on social media comes after the Gender Ministry recently penalized several media outlets for violating the rights and dignity of a child victim in reporting a murder.
