President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurates a dedicated camping ground for school students at CROSSROADS Maldives on October 11, 2025)
An official camping ground has been inaugurated in the greater Male’ area, dedicated to school students and uniformed bodies, providing a venue for camps and program that foster youth development and engagement.
The camping ground, established at CROSSROADS Maldives, was inaugurated on Saturday morning by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu said that students in the capital have been without dedicated camping ground for 15 years.
In his speech, Shafeeu highlighted on the crucial role that uniformed bodies such as Cadet, Scout and Girl Guides play on developing the skills and capabilities of school students.
He said that the camping ground developed at CROSSROADS Maldives provide a sizable and safe venue for students to camp in.
“This camping ground will also be utilized to hold different educational activities. This is not just for Cadet, Scout or Girl Guides,” he said.
Shafeeu said the camping group will also be used for school students to conduct environmental research and fisheries science research.
President Muizzu toured the camping grounds after the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by senior officials from the Education Ministry, Cadet, Scout and Girl Guides.
