Man arrested for assaulting expat in Gaafaru

A Maldivian man has been arrested for assaulting an expatriate with a sharp object in Kaafu atoll Gaafaru.

Maldives Police Service on Tuesday confirmed receiving the incident’s report around 07:05hrs. Police received report of an injured Bangladeshi immigrant, who had been attacked with a sharp object.

Police however, did not provide further details about the victim, but added that a local of Gaafaru, identified as Jasim Jaufar, had been taken to police custody as a suspect.

The law enforcement authority is currently investigating the case.
