Police use force to arrest drug suspect who refused body search

Police have used force to arrest a man who obstructed officers from discharging their duties during an attempt to search him over suspicions of being in possession of drugs.

The arrestee has been identified as Moosa Faalil, 31, M. Salaasaa.

In a message to the media on Friday, officers patrolling near Hulhumale’ Flat No. 4 at approximately 14:25pm on Thursday afternoon saw Faalil discard three pieces of cellophane suspected to be containing drugs.

It was detailed that the officers had stopped and questioned him at the moment but were ultimately obstructed from discharging their duties when they wanted to conduct a body search which Fazil refused to comply with and caused a ruckus. 

However, officers used force to arrest Fazil.  

The case is under investigation by the Police.
