The Maldivian local arrested earlier on July 8 for suspected assault at Hulhumale’ Phase I, has been remanded until conclusion of his trial.
Maldives Police Service on Thursday confirmed the authority arrested a 22-year-old Maldivian man as the primary suspect in the case.
Police added Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court ordered the suspect be held in remand until trial’s end.
The case came to light after a victim of bullying, was attacked by a gang after they claimed to report the incident to police. The incident was shared on social media platforms.
Pictures shared regarding the incident showed the victim with injuries to their head and eye.
Police added they are investigating the case.
Earlier on July 8, Police Superintendent Arif claimed a total of eight gangs are active in Greater Male’ area which consists mainly of juveniles aged between 12 and 13.
