Police investigate after officer’s family harassed

The police have opened an investigation after the family of an officer was harassed at their residence in Hulhumale’.

The investigation comes amid claims on social media that a gang blackmailed a forensic officer based in Hulhumale’ by physically harassing his wife in front of their child.

According to one of the posts on social media platform X on Saturday, this was carried out by a gang on trial at the Criminal Court on drug charges.

In response, the chief police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan said the Hulhumale' police is currently investigating theincident.

“So far, there is no evidence that any gang related criminal activity has occurred at the Police Apartment Residence in Hulhumale’,” he added.
