Authorities probe juvenile violence at Hiya Flat

Maldives Police Service has begun investigations looking into a case of juvenile violence reported from one of the Hiyaa social housing towers in Hulhumale' Phase II.

The video, now viral on social media shows a group of teenagers violently beating another minor.

In response to media questions, police said they have been notified of a video involving a group of juveniles attacking a minor at a Hiyaa tower corridor, and added they are now investigating the case.

Police further said they have not been able to identify the offenders or the victim in the video so far, and requested public support identifying them.

The video shows at least three individuals ganging up to a minor, with one of them repeatedly kicking the child while he is on the floor.

The video also shows others around walking past as the incident took place, but no one stepped in to intervene.
