Arrest made in connection to attack on MP Shareef

One arrest has been made in connection to the attack on Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef (Mavota Shareef).

Shareef was attacked inside Manhattan Business Hotel in Male’ on Saturday amidst voting in the runoff round of the presidential election. He sustained blows to the face during the attack as a result of which he suffered a swollen eye and a broken nose.

Police are investigating the attack.

Sun has learned that a 24-year-old Maldivian man was arrested in connection to the attack on Monday.

Police have yet to make an official comment regarding the arrest.

On Saturday, Feydhoo MP Mohamed Nihad was attacked in the Feydhoo district of Addu while he was performing electoral duties.
