Muizzu picks Abdul Raheem as head of transitional committee

Abdul Raheem Abdulla, the leader of PNC, has been picked as the head of the transitional committee which will oversee the transfer of power to the incoming president Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The opposition PPM-PNC coalition’s Muizzu is set to take office on November 17.

A spokesperson for the PPM-PNC, Mohamed Tholal told Sun on Monday that Abdul Raheem has been nominated to the Civil Service Commission as the head of the transitional committee on behalf of Muizzu.

The outgoing president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih – who Muizzu beat in the runoff – announced on Sunday that a special transitional committee would be selected to ensure the smooth transfer of power.

Muizzu won the election runoff on Saturday with 54 percent of votes. The incumbent president received 46 percent.
