Male’ City Council has stated that electric buggy service will commence in Vilimale’ early next month.
A total of 10 buggies will be used to provide the service in Vilimale’ which comprises of three four-seaters, three six-seaters, one 12-seater, two for transportation of goods, and one for transportation of sick people.
The buggy service will be available 24 hours.
The service will be provided by Male’ City Council, hence, the buggies will be driven by Council employees.
Commenting on the upcoming service, Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu told Sun on Tuesday that launch of buggy service would ease a lot of difficulties faced by Vilimale’ residents.
“Very often we receive complaints over difficulties faced due to the lack of vehicles to transport goods from ferry. Complaints over difficulties in transporting sick people. This service will address these problems,” he said.
Mayor Muizzu said that the buggy service will be provided at a reasonable price – and in a manner that is the most convenient for users.
He expressed confidence that the buggy service will be well-received by the public and a success.
Male’ City Council decided to assume the responsibility of providing buggy service in Vilimale’ at the 63rd general meeting of the fourth session held last August subsequent to 99 Holdings’ failure to provide buggy service in Vilimale’ in line with the agreement executed with the Council.
