Damages in fire in Vilimale’ uninhabited house

A fire broke out in an uninhabited house in suburban Vilimale’ on Saturday, resulting in damages to equipment stored in the house.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said the fire at the house ‘Basmalaa’ was reported to the authorities at around 05:12 am.

The fire, which affected two rooms in the house, was put out by firefighters from the Vilimale’ Fire Station at around 05:55 am.

According to the MNDF, the two rooms at the house were used as storage and workshop for an air-conditioning repair service.

Though the fire did not result in any injuries, it caused varying degrees of damage to the equipment in the two rooms, and to a toilet.

The fire is under investigation by the MNDF.

The service did not disclose the cause of the fire.
