The flag carrier of Sri Lanka, SriLankan Airlines increased the frequency of its flights to Gan district of Addu City.
SriLankan’s local agent, Ace Aviation’s managing director Mohamed Firaq told Sun the airline had previously operated a weekly flight on the Gan-Colombo route.
He said the frequency of the flights has now been increased to twice a week; on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The increase in frequency of Gan-Colombo flights comes amid an increase in demand with the onset of the tourism peak season.
SriLankan will hold flights twice a week until the end of March.
While SriLankan has increased the frequency of flights to Gan, the Dubai-based low-cost airline, Flydubai, is set to start daily Gan-Dubai flights on February 4.
