Dedicated art display space opens at Noovilu seaplane terminal

National Center for the Arts (NCA) has opened a dedicated artwork display space at the Noovilu seaplane terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA).

The display wall set up at Noovilu allows local artists to display their artworks year-round.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Noovilu for a tour of the dedicated artwork display space on Monday. He was accompanied on the tour by Minister Arts, Culture and Heritage, Yumna Maumoon.

According to the President’s Office, the artworks are hosted at Noovilu under the Maldivian administration’s initiative of providing emerging artists with platforms to present their work to local and international audiences.

The space currently showcases 20 artworks from the National Art Gallery’s permanent collection.

In addition to the art displays, the platform also allows local musicians to showcase their talent at the airport.

During his tour Monday, President Solih met with members of the art community and inquired about their work.

The platform is also open for artists during the peak season.
