The theft took place on Monday morning, around 9:40am in the morning, at the intersection of Buruzu Magu and Kashimaa Hingun. The owner had parked the motorbike at the intersection, in order to enter a dental clinic nearby. By the time the owner had come out, MVR 130,000 kept in the under-seat of the motorbike had been stolen.

Sun was able to obtain CCTV footage from the area, which had recorded the theft. In the footage, a man wearing a brown shirt is seen sitting on the motorbike. After sitting on the motorbike for a long period of time, he had opened the under-seat and empties the money inside into a bag and walked away.
