Safety measures in Addu City imposed due to COVID-19 have been strengthened.

The southern city is under monitoring mechanisms due to the spread of COVID-19. An announcement by the City Council read that residents of the city are no longer permitted to visit households. Public offices are to be closed and services are also to be provided online.

Other measures are:

  • Closure of schools until contact tracing efforts conclude
  • Closure of Salons
  • Ceasing sports activities
  • Public gatherings and parties are to be conducted online

Moreover, the City Council also stated that taxi services in the city are to be provided under HPA guidelines for such services.

The new measures are to be in place until the monitoring order on the city is lifted or until further notice by the Council.
