One from three PPM councilors in Addu signs for MDP

One out of the three councilors in Addu City Council who are from the main opposition party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), has signed for the main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on Thursday.

Feydhoo Maadehla district councilor Mohamed Faisal signed his membership form for MDP in the presence of one of the party’s leaders, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, before handing over the form to the party’s Chairperson, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail. They were accompanied by MDP’s parliamentary group leader, Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam.

Commenting on his decision to sign for MDP – Faisal said it was to further develop his constituency through collaboration with the government.

“The fastest and easiest way to accomplish things for Feydhoo constituency is by collaborating with the government” he added.

Eight out of 13 councilors in Addu City Council are representatives of MDP. While three are three independent councilors, the number of PPM councilors in Addu City Council has now decreased to two.
