Authorities battling to control fire in Addu city, Meedhoo mangroves

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue is operating in the mangroves of Addu city, Meedhoo due to a fire in the area.

MNDF stated that reports of the fire were received around 13:15 and authorities were still working to control the blaze. MNDF spokesperson Maj. Ibrahim Azim said that the authorities have managed to control 50 percent of the fire around 15:15 today.

It is reported that the entire area is engulfed in smoke as the fire has spread rapidly.
