Fire at Gili Lankanfushi put out; 7 water villas burned beyond use

The fire at water villas in luxury resort, Gili Lankanfushi Maldives, was put out at dawn, this Thursday.

The fire was reported to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) at 10:32 pm last Wednesday, and firefighters managed to completely put out the fire at approximately 5 am this Thursday.

MNDF says no one was harmed in the incident, but the seven water villas at the resort as well as the wooden jetty to the water villas were damaged beyond use.

Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed visited the resort to check on the damages and ask after the welfare of the employees and tourists at the resort last Wednesday night.
