The Buildex Expo 2019 by the Maldives National Association for Construction Industry (MACI) has commenced today at Dharubaaruge. The expo will be participated by members of the construction industry, interior design and resort supply companies.
The expo was opened by the ambassador from India to the Maldives Mr. Sunjay Sudhir and will run for Saturday with nearly 100 stalls and will be visited by potential investors as well as other industry members.
At the ceremony to open the expo, president of MACI Mr. Ali Janah stated that the construction industry of the country has developed a lot over the last few years. He also noted the opportunities paved for the industry through massive infrastructure projects of the government such as the Hulhumale' phase 2 projects and other resort development projects.
Janah also highlighted the SME bank specialised for smal and medium range enterprises was a good opportunity for new companies to enter into the construction market.
"The industry has seen a rapid rise in the last few years, due to the opportunities provided by the government in projects such as harbors, resort development, sewerage and housing," said Janah.
He also stated that the logistical costs for the industry will be reduced when the commercial harbor of Male' city is moved to Gulhifalhu. He also advised industry members to take the utmost care in safety and security measures.
