No heavy vehicle will be permitted on the Sinamale’ Bridge during the upcoming month of Ramadan, says Transport Authority (TA).

TA published the hours during which cargo can be transported by land in Male’ City during Ramadan in an announcement last Monday.

The new cargo transport hours are applicable from 1st of Ramadan to the 4th of Shawwal.

During the period, businesses are allowed to transport cargo via land in Male’ City from 9 am to 3 pm and from 9 pm to 6 am.

There is no restriction on the type of cargo which can be transported during these hours, but any transport of mineral water and cooking gas from 9 am to 3 pm must be carried out using a vehicle with the capacity for 350 kilo or less, says TA.

Any transport of bulk cargo from 3 pm to 9 pm is banned.

The announcement reads that all type of cargo can be transported over the Sinamale’ Bridge which links Male’ City and Hulhumale’ from 9 am to 3 pm and from 1 am to 6 am. But the vehicles need to get on the bridge from the Boduthakurufaanu Magu located to the South of Male’ City.
