An additional candidate has submitted his application form to run in the upcoming Presidential Elections 2018.
The new prospective candidate is Hussan Naseer from Male’ City, Dhafthar 6562.
Elections Commission reports it has accepted Naseer’s application.
“Sun” has been informed Naseer is a Maldivian citizen who resides in neighboring Sri Lanka. He has not been seen running any campaign activity yet.
Only two have applied to run in the Presidential Elections so far, Naseer and opposition’s presidential candidate, MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih – whose application was accepted by EC last week.
Meanwhile, ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has announced it will submit incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s application before the deadline. And former Minister of Home Affairs, Umar Naseer announced earlier this week that he has received the number of signatures required to apply for the Elections, and that he will announce his decision this week.
