The Maldives Police Service on Monday launched several new products and services aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of services provided to the public and across its departments.
The launches took place at Digital Data and Technology Connect 2025, held at Iskandhar Barracks. The event was officiated by State Minister for Internal Security and Technology Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath. It was attended by Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen, Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry, Controller General of Immigration (Retd. Commissioner of Police) Mohamed Faseeh, Commissioner General of Customs Fathimath Diyana, as well as police executive officers and staff from various departments.
At the ceremony, Dr. Kinaanath launched the Police MV mobile application, while Commissioner Naveen inaugurated the Police Cyber Portal.
The Police MV app’s most distinctive feature is a system that allows complainants to communicate directly with the investigating officer to receive updates on their cases. Other features include:
Scam information and checking tools
Requests and verification of police certificates
Case reporting and evidence submission
Contact details for neighborhood police
Lost-and-found and missing item reporting
The Cyber Portal is a digital platform designed to help identify and prevent cybercrimes. It allows users to report suspicious activity and search for links, messages, phone numbers, and email addresses connected to scams reported to police.
The event also unveiled three additional systems:
Fleet Management System for maintaining police vehicles
Entry Management System for administrative tasks
Police Infrastructure Projects System for easier access to infrastructure development projects
Police said these initiatives are part of a broader modernization effort to enhance transparency, efficiency, and public trust.
While the new tools are designed to enhance trust and accountability, the institution has faced recent criticism over declining public confidence, with some alleging political influence in investigations and unfair handling of cases
