MFDA flags misleading label on sweet areca nut packet

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has on Thursday issued a public notice regarding a packet of “sweet areca nut” sold in local shops with a label claiming it is “approved by MFDA.” According to the MFDA, while it grants permits to food manufacturers, processors, and service providers, it does not approve or certify individual food products. Therefore, labeling products
