MFDA recalls cooking sauce over undeclared content

MFDA recalls food preparation product from Maldives market owing to presence of undeclared content--

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) on Wednesday has recalled an imported food preparation product citing presence of undeclared content.

The authority recalled ‘MasterFoods Creamy Chicken & Mushroom’ cooking sauce, and noted that while the product’s ingredients list presence of eggs; there were no allergen details provided on the label.

MFDA said that due to the undeclared egg present in the product’s ingredients, it was being recalled as it posed a risk to people with egg allergies.

The authority confirmed the product’s manufacturer had instructed local authorities to recall the item from market owing to this discrepancy. MFDA further confirmed it had been notified about the product through International Food Safety Authorities Network as well.
