President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to relocate the H.Dh. Finey school, fulfilling a long-standing wish of the local populace.
During his presidential tour of the atolls, Muizzu addressed the Finey islanders, acknowledging their desire for the move despite it not being a pre-planned government initiative.
"So we will start this work within the next year after arranging the budget. Because you want to add classrooms and relocate the school," President Muizzu told the people of Finey.
He further noted that the chosen new site for the school is the very hall where he was delivering his speech.
This commitment comes while the Ministry of Education website indicates the Finey school currently serves a modest hundred students, offering classes from LKG to Grade 10. While the 2022 census places Finey's population at 409, the President assured the islanders that additional development projects, including port and road infrastructure, are also slated for implementation.
