94 receive national award for over 40 years of public service

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday conferred the National Award for Public Service to 94 individuals in recognition of their longtime service to the state.

They were presented with commemorative shields and badges during the official Independence Day function on Sunday morning.

The National Award for Public Service is a state honor that recognizes those who have served the state for over 35 years, celebrating their competence and integrity in carrying out their duties, as well as their contributions to their respective institutions.

According to the President’s Office, all 94 individuals honored on Sunday dedicated over 40 years to public service.

The Independence Day function also saw President Muizzu confer the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin – the highest state honor – to three individuals; former Chief Justice Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, Jumhoory Party leader and Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim, and former Tourism Minister Hassan Sobir. Meanwhile, Ambassador-at-large Ahmed Saleem was conferred the Most Distinguished Foreign Service Medal – the highest honor in Maldivian Foreign Service.
