The Family Court on Wednesday began publicizing the identities of people who fail to pay child support as required by law.
Unpaid child support is considered a declared debt.
However, many refuse to pay child support.
In January, several magistrate courts began publicizing the identities of people who fail to pay child support – a decision made in an effort to deter it.
The Family Court followed suit on Wednesday afternoon, as they publicized the photo and name of Ahmed Ali, who the court said had failed to pay child support as instructed.
A spokesperson from the Family Court confirmed to Sun that it marks the first time for the court to implement this practice.
Statistics shows the court receives a high number of cases each year involving failure to pay child support.
