Water service has been restored in L. Fonadhoo after a technical issue at the plant disrupted water service in the island.
Fenaka Corporation announced on Sunday afternoon that a technical issue at the water plant in Fonadhoo had resulted in the disruption of water services.
The company also said that it was working on having the necessary equipment airlifted from Male’ and fixing the issue as soon as possible.
On Monday morning, the state utility company announced that the issue had been fixed and water service has been restored to the island.
The company also thanked the national carrier, Maldivian, for its assistance in transporting the necessary equipment.
“We would also like to thank the beloved people of Fonadhoo for showing exemplary patience,” added Fenaka.
Fonadhoo Council’s president Ahmed Riyaz told Sun on Monday morning that the disruption had resulted from an issue with a membrane at the water plant which prevented the production of water. He also said that it had been several days since the issue arose, and that the water finally ran out on Sunday.
He said the utility company fixed the issue on Sunday night.
