Maldives Police Service issued a statement conveying condolences on Saturday morning following the sudden death of a policewoman stationed at the Guraidhoo Police Station.
Sergeant Fathimath Rifa, 37, Thema, Th. Guraidhoo, passed away on Friday night.
The chief police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan told Sun on Saturday morning that Rifa had been working at the Guraidhoo Police Station, and had 18 years of service under her belt.
He described Rifa’s death as a “sudden death”, without providing any details.
He also said it wasn’t clear if Rifa had died while on duty or not.

Maldives Police Service has issued a statement conveying condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau and the entire police force.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef took to X to express shock and sorrow over the young policewoman’s death.
He conveyed condolences to the family and prayed for patience.
