The police officer who was arrested for blackmailing his girlfriend with sexually explicit photos stands accused of demanding money by threatening bodily harm.

The police officer identified as Zaidhan Mohamed, 19, Faza, AA. Mathiveri, was arrested under a court order on November 13th.

He is accused of blackmailing his girlfriend by threatening to leak sexually explicit photos of her.

Zaidhan has been remanded in custody on two separate occasions since his arrest. They are:

Mathiveri Magistrate Court remanded him in custody for three days on November 14th

Criminal Court remanded him in custody for 20 days on November 24th

A Criminal Court hearing was held on Wednesday regarding extending Zaidhan’s remand. The Court remanded him in custody for an additional 10 days, set to expire on December 14th.

According to the court order, sufficient evidence has been presented to support that Zaidhan intimidated the victim by threatening to leak photos he possessed. Additionally, some evidence suggests that Zaidhan destroyed his phone and other evidence related to the case, as suspected by the Police.

Zaidhan is also accused of threatening the victim with bodily harm in a manner that would instill fear in her mind while demanding money from her. He had also allegedly threatened to send the photos to her father.

Thus, the Court said it was extending Zaidhan’s remand as they believed he might be a threat to the society if released.
