Mariyam Insha Faisal has been nominated as a member of the National Integrity Commission (NIC).
The letter nominating Insha to the post was read at the Parliament on Monday morning.
The nomination has been set to the Independent Institutions Committee for review.
Insha, who previously worked at the NIC as a senior investigator, was picked to replace Ahmed Jihad, whose term at the commission has expired.
The NIC currently has four members. They are:
The four members were appointed to the NIC in 2020, and their term will therefore expire next year.
The NIC is responsible for investigating unlawful acts by law enforcement agencies and law enforcement officers. It is responsible for investigating such unlawful acts where the commission of such act is suspected or if any party submits a complaint that such an act has or is being committed.
The authority to appoint and dismiss NIC members lies with the President.
