The Maldives National University (MNU)’s Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) has won the Indian Ocean's Best Culinary Training Institution at the prestigious World Culinary Awards 2024.
The awarding ceremony took place at Summersalt Jumeirah Al Naseem in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday evening. The award was accepted on behalf of MNU’s FHTS by Dean, Zeenath Solih and Lecturer, Aishath Shudfa Waheed.
The achievement marks the third time MNU has earned this title, having previously won in 2021 and 2023. The faculty has been nominated for the honor for three consecutive years, showcasing its consistent excellence in culinary education.
This year, the MNU won the award by competed against one local institution and three prominent culinary schools from Mauritius.
The MNU credited the faculty’s consistent recognition on the international stage is largely due to its active participation in global culinary competitions. FHTS’s students recently secured a spot in the top 20 out of 60 countries at the Young Chef Olympiad 2024, and successfully competed in the Plate Trophy round, further proving its reputation as a leading culinary institution.
MNU extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who voted for them and supported their journey to the remarkable achievement.
