The Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the Maldives National University (MNU) on Tuesday, April 15th, entered into an agreement to provide scholarships for the Bachelor of Science in Climate Change program at L. Gan campus of MNU.
The Ministry of Tourism and Environment’s Director General, Mohamed Zahir signed on the agreement on behalf of the state and the Vice Chancellor of MNU, Dr. Aishath Shehenaz signed on behalf of the university.
The primary objective of the agreement, according to MNU, is to support the Bachelor of Science in Climate Change program offered at L. Gan campus to enhance climate-focused education and research opportunities within the Maldives.
The government is expected to extend a total of 12 scholarship opportunities for this program.
Environmental academia is among the most prevalent fields of education globally, which makes enhancement of academic opportunities in the area a necessity according to the university. MNU further noted such efforts would enhance the development of eco-conscious future generations.
