The protection of the peaceful Maldivian way of life is crucial to maintaining the country’s tourism success, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He made the remark in a post on X on Thursday, on occasion of the National Tourism Day.
In his message, President Muizzu described friendship as the foundation of the Maldivian tourism industry.
“Friendship, compassion and peace means security. Upholding the peaceful and stable Maldivian way of life is crucial to maintaining Maldives’ success in tourism,” he said.

In a separate message on X, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal urged everyone to continue working together “to protect and promote our unique tourism industry for future generations.”

Maldives opened its first resort in 1972, and has risen to become one of the world’s top tourist destinations in the 52 years since.
Maldives was crowned the World’s Leading Destination for the fourth year running at the 2023 World Travel Awards, and has been nominated for the award again this year.
It expects a record high two million tourist arrivals this year.
