Applications open for agriculture scholarships from Japan

The Higher Education Ministry has announced the opening of applications for scholarship opportunities from Japan to pursue higher education in agricultural studies.

The scholarships are available for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Agriculture Studies Network for Food Security 2025.

The scholarships are for Master’s Degree and PhD in agricultural studies.

Interested candidates have been asked to apply by 01:30 pm on September 26 via the ministry’s portal.

The eligibility criteria for Master’s Degree includes a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. This opportunity is open only for Maldivian citizens who will not reach 35 years of age by April 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, the scholarships for PhD are open for people who will not reach 40 years of age by April 1, 2025, and have a Master’s Degree in a related field.

If the candidates have taken a student loan from the Higher Education Ministry in the past, they must have made regular payments without a default in order to be eligible for the scholarship opportunities.
