More information sessions on the Human Resource Development Scholarship Program (JDS) - a full scholarship program funded by the Japanese government – are scheduled to take place in the Maldivian capital in October.

According to the JDS program, a face-to-face information session will be held at the 9th floor conference room at the Marukab Plaza in Male’ City from 04:30 pm to 05:30 pm on October 16, and a second online session will be held from 04:00 pm to 5:00 pm on October 19.

JDS is a Japan-funded scholarship program targeting government officials of the Maldives.

The information sessions are open to civil servants and staff from independent institutions, courts, and legislative bodies.

Those interested in attending the session can register online.

During these sessions, participants will receive a comprehensive overview of the JDS program, including eligibility criteria, fields of study, and the application process.

The sessions will also offer participants a chance to meet JDS alumni, who will share their study experiences in Japan and career development after returning to the Maldives.

The JDS program encouraged all eligible government officials to attend and make the most of the opportunity to learn directly from program coordinators and past recipients.

Applications are open for six scholarship opportunities under the JDS program for the academic year 2026-2027 until November 10.

Launched in the Maldives in 2020, 27 Maldivians have received scholarships under the program over the last five years.
