Theft: Stolen items recovered; one arrested and search underway for two suspects

A local man has been arrested following a search of two locations in a theft case.

Maldives Police Service said two locations were searched in connection to the theft at H. Fathagumage in the early hours of Monday morning during which they recovered the stolen items.

Adam Hussain 48, Jameela Manzil, L. Maavah was arrested in connection to the case.

Police noted that they were searching for two additional suspects in connection to the case as well.

Theft and robbery cases have recently seen a significant increase in recent months with multiple cases this week alone.

In this regard, Police arrested a 39-year-old man in connection to mugging a woman on a motorbike at Lonuziyaarai Magu on Wednesday morning.

A 33-year-old Maldivian man was arrested and remanded in custody on Wednesday for stealing wristwatches and a mobile phone – marking his 100th arrest for a crime.
