Two arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen motorbike

Two men have been arrested from Hulhumale’ Phase I in the early hours on Sunday morning on suspicion of driving a stolen motorbike.

The Police identified the suspects as:

  • Ahmed Visan, 30, Glory, L. Maavah
  • Mohamed Atheef, 48, Bulshamma’aage, GDh. Gadhdhoo

According to the Police, the two men were stopped by officers patrolling the streets at dawn because of their reaction upon noticing officers. 

In this regard, the Police detailed that the individuals were stopped near Beach Club at Dhiggaa Magu and subsequently searched, leading to suspicions that they were driving a stolen motorbike.

The case is under further investigation by the Police.

Theft cases remain among the highest reported crimes in the Maldives.
