A man was detained from Hulhumale’ on Tuesday morning, on suspicion of breaking into and stealing from at least 10 vehicles parked on the side of the road.
Abdul Rahman Hussain, 33, Orchidmaage, L. Isdhoo, was arrested by patrolling police officers from the parking zone near the POLCO flats.
According to the police, officers on patrol stopped him after he attempted to hide something and flee on a motorcycle as soon as he spotted them. The police searched the area and discovered that many of the vehicles parked in the area were open. They also found stolen items during the search.
Police said there’s evidence he broke into and stole from nine cars and a pickup parked in the area.
The officers had seen him throw away a cellophane wrapper containing what they believe to be drugs. The police recovered the item in his presence, and recovered stolen car and motorcycle keys, phones, charging cables and other items when they searched him and the motorcycle he attempted to flee on.
The case is under investigation by the Hulhumale’ Police.
