The Maldives Immigration on Tuesday announced that submitting the “traveler declaration”, otherwise known as IMUGA form, is mandatory for all outbound travelers, will not be a requirement effective August 15th onward.

Immigration said the decision was in alignment with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s policies of improving ease for inbound and outbound travelers of Maldives. The Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamman Waheed announced that expatriates will no longer be required to fill the “traveler declaration form” from the effective date.

Launched first on March 14, 2021, the declaration has been filled as an embarkation/disembarkation card and was made mandatory on all inbound and outbound travelers before.

The form’s mandatory status for inbound and outbound Maldivian travelers were, however, effectively dropped by Shamman earlier in 2023.

While all outbound travelers from the Maldives will no longer be required to fill the form; all inbound foreign travelers are still required to submit the form 96 hours ahead their flight.

Immigration said its decision aims to improve aviation services and their procedures for all travelers.
